Goin' Down to the Fishing Hole

Today was a 5 Star Day for Walker. First he went to preschool where he "put dirt on Walker's head" and then he had lunch with the beautiful Kate!! who is recently back in town. Walker is so madly in love with the lovely Kate!! and he hadn't seen her in almost two weeks. When she pulled up in the driveway, Walker jumped up and down screaming "KATE!! KATE!!" So cute.

After a delcious turkey dog lunch, Kate!! wanted to see our goldfish Kah. I brought Kah out to the dining room table and Walker said "I get my pole." So Walker and Kate!! spent the afternoon trying to fish the defenseless Kah out of his bowl.

After their fishing expedition, Kate!! helped Walker take off his shoes (perhaps a funny twist on the Cinderella story) and Daydee Babe played cars. I don't think that it will be too much longer before Walker and Daydee Babe will be car buddies.

Here are some pictures from our fun afternoon:

Kate!! shows him how a real angler catches a fish (and pins Kah against the walls of his tank).

Eedin' de Ucks (Translation "Feeding the Ducks")

One of Walker and Daddy's favorite evening activities is going to feed the ducks in the pond in our neighborhood. As soon as we finish dinner, Walker will say "eed de ucks, Daddy?" If the weather is good, they hop in Walker's cool ride and pedal over to the duck pond. Tonight was one of those nights and Daddy was kind enough to document it on film for us.

First step, getting ready to cruise.
Much to my chagrin, Walker's "psycho smile" is back.
He wants all of our readers to know that 'eedin ucks' makes him happy.
I think he looks a little like he is going to eat a duck with his bare hands, but I digress.

We keep our duck food in the little compartment of Walker's car.

Gotta get a big handful of bread for the hungry ducks.

Walker pelts the ducks with bread. Feeding ducks = Target practice

After they feed the ducks, Walker and Daddy like to finish their evening at the playground. Walker loves to climb on the jungle gym.

He also loves to swing on the big boy swing. Good thing he has good balance because that big puddle looks a little ominous. He came home a little stinky but without a drop of puddle water on him. Good job, Walker and Daddy!

Note: No ducks were harmed in the making of this blog entry.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!

I know that we have been so blessed to have the brunt of Tropical Storm Fay spare us but after 36 hours stuck indoors with a 2 year old monkey child, we were both saying "Rain, Rain, Go Away!!" School was cancelled today so Walker and I spent the morning and afternoon trying to stave off cabin fever. We played "pudzlles", melted brain cells watching Kai Lan and baked peanut butter cookies for Daddy. Walker called them "Lucy" cookies (perhaps because Lucy Dog gobbled up all of the crumbs that hit the floor and possibly because our cookies were better fit for dog consumption... that one's still up for debate.)
Well, the ducks and the flowers are loving all of this rain and we are truly blessed that this storm did not become a hurricane. Tomorrow we are going to have to get out of the house, though...

Watching Kai Lan in Mommy and Daddy's bed (a rare treat!)

"Do we have all of the ingredients?"

"Put down the camera and let's get to baking!"

Daydee Madeline's Pageant Debut

Daydee Madeline made her big pageant debut this weekend in the St. Marys River Queen Pageant. We adore Daydee Madeline and think she is beautiful even without a crown to prove it but by goodness, she took 1st place in the Baby Doll division. Daydee Madeline who listed her interests as "having playdates with Walker and Mrs. Phoebe" and who's future ambition is to "walk before she turns 1" blew away her competition. She not only took the top crown but also won for prettiest dress. Walker missed the pageant as he was having a slumber party with his Big Mama but he already thought Daydee Madeline was the prettiest daydee in the county.

Sarah said that she was only going to do this one pageant but when she took the crown, we all knew that we'd see her on the pageant stage again soon. In honor of Daydee Madeline's first win, here is a pictorial tribute to the St. Marys River Queen Baby Doll Winner.

A Sad Day for Daddy's Cool Car

This afternoon we had a horrible storm. Nathan came home from work early because the power went out at his office. When he pulled into the driveway, he discovered that a HUGE tree branch had fallen onto his Mustang in our driveway. Nathan has been working for two weeks to transfer a new engine into his beloved Mustang and was going to finish the work tonight but alas, a mean tree crushed the roof of his car. Let it be said that while we are sad about the damage to Nathan's car, we are so grateful that none of our family or friends were injured in the storm.

This turn of events was a bitter blow to both Nathan and Walker as driving in "Daddy's Cool Car" is one of Walker's favorite passtimes. We don't have collision insurance on the Mustang (the insurance value is way lower than the retail value of the car) so it looks like we might be having to use bubble gum and popsicle sticks to get Daddy's cool car back on the road.

On the bright side, Nathan's friend, Thomas, is an expert mechanic and he thinks that he and Nathan can saw the top off of the car and replace it (Lord, help us!). I guess the theme this month is "Good Friends" because we are both just so blessed by friends who are willing to roll up their sleeves to help us. I'll keep you updated on our progress with the Mustang restoration efforts.

Yikes!!

Owwie!!

Car boo-boo!

P.S. Deanna, Jon, Kate!! and Daydee Babe, please come home soon... our whole world is falling apart without you. :)

Back to School

Today Walker started back to preschool. He is going to go 4 days a week in the 2 year old class. I don't know what I am going to do with all of my spare time (but I am sure that I will fill it up quick!). Walker went right into his new classroom without a hitch but when I came to pick him up, things went downhill a little bit. I asked him what he did at school and he said "hit kidz" and "I saw-wee". Apparently Walker was practicing for the WWF with Griffin and Grayson but no eyeballs were poked out so I guess we can call it a good day. That aside, we are looking forward to a good year and can't wait to go back to school tomorrow.
